GOLF: The Senior Ladies team at Avoise golf course remained in the first national division

At the end of 5 days of competition at the Soufflenheim golf course, in Alsace, the team composed of Marie-Ange Michaud, Marie-Hélène Desmurger, Martine Frèrejean and Motoko Fabre confirmed its prowess as the only Burgundian team, all categories combined, to have reached this level.

Two years ago, the Senior Ladies team at the Avoise golf course brilliantly reached the first national division. Last year, the team confirmed its retention in the first division. Remember that the first division is the highest in the federation, in which the best French teams compete, here in the Senior Ladies category.
This year, the senior women’s first division championship, also called the Women’s Commission Trophy, took place from September 25 to 29 on the Soufflenheim golf course in Alsace. Marie-Ange Michaud, the captain, Marie-Hélène Desmurger, Martine Frèrejean and Motoko Fabre defended the colors of the Avoise golf course.

At the end of the first two days of stroke play, Avoise finished in 20th position out of 24 teams entered. It should be noted that in the individual rankings for these two days, Marie-Ange Michaud finished in 6th place, out of the 66 players who played both days. Two days of matches then follow to reach the final tables or to defend their place in the first division – the case of our team.
On the first day, Avoise played against a Parisian team, that of Stade Français. The battle was tough, and the team lost but the opponents were led until holes 16, 17 and 18 – a sign that the matches were close.
A second day of play-off followed, in which they faced Fontainebleau. Marie-Ange Michaud quickly won her point, at hole number 13, the pair Marie-Hélène Desmurger and Martine Frèrejean lost at 16 but Motoko Favre won her match at hole 15 and with it maintenance in the first division.
“It was a great week, even if very rainy, on a very demanding course. We fought hard and managed to stay in the first division for the second year! This maintenance is a source of pride for us and for the club,” indicated Marie-Ange Michaud, the captain, upon her return to Avoise.
We can conclude by indicating that this team, all categories combined, is the only Burgundian team to have reached this national level – which reinforces the pride of the players and the club.
