On the course of the Country Club of Jackson in Jackson, Mississippi, PGA Tour players looking for important points to maintain full playing rights in 2025 took advantage of good conditions to have fun Thursday in the 1st round of the Sanderson Farms Championship. This is particularly the case of Paul Barjon (photo), one of the two French representatives to follow this week on the American circuit.

He’s not the most charismatic but the Englishman David Skinns has regularly managed to shine brightly on the PGA Tour this year. This Thursday in Mississippi, the spotlight was once again on him.

After appearing at the head of the tournament on the eve of the last round in Houston at the end of March, then on the evening of the first day at the end of May at the RBC Canadian Open, the Briton came close to 59 during the first round of Sanderson Farms Championship on the route of Country Club of Jackson.

In fact, he came close to becoming the third player this season to sign a card below 60*. A birdie putt of less than 3 meters missed on 9, his last hole of the day.

Skinns will remember this day for a long time since he set the new course record but also returned his lowest career card. All this despite 5 fairways being hit simply.

But the Englishman produced an impressive putting performance with 12 birdies and no bogeys. It is obviously on the greens that he widened the gap over the rest of the field with more than 4 strokes gained!

A total of 106 players managed to play under par in this first round of the second of eight tournaments FedEx Cup Fall.

Among them we note the very good start of the neo-pro and ex-world number 1 amateur Michael Thorbjorsen who won a playing right on the PGA Tour by finishing first in the program PGA TOUR University end of May 2024. At -9 he occupies 2nd place, three shots behind the leader.

We can also point out the presence on the provisional podium of the former winner of the US Open Gary Woodland who is trying to save his place in the elite after the removal of a brain tumor in the summer of 2023.

At 40 years old Woodland, whose best result this season is 21st place, is in third place alongside his compatriot Ben Griffin 12 years his junior.

Paul Barjon focused on the goal

Like Woodland, several multiple winners on the PGA Tour are in the top 5 of the tournament. Daniel Berger (4), Lucas Glover (6), Bill Haas (6). Three men who share 5th place at -7 with the Frenchman Paul Barjon author of a map of 65.

The adopted Texan, who has worked a lot in recent weeks to approach this decisive final stretch in the best conditions for the rest of his career, shone on the greens with more than 38 meters of putts made in 18 holes on Thursday !

Starting from 10, he crossed the first leg in 34 and his 4 birdies on the last 6 holes allowed him to get significantly closer to the leading group at the end of the day.

179th in the FedEx Cup, Barjon was projected Thursday evening at 159th place. The objective is to end the season in the top 125 on the evening of the last round of the RSM Classic on November 24.
