Sale of Ricochet: from customers to owners

As kids, they had fun hitting balls in the aisles of Ricochet; adults and with years of experience in management and entrepreneurship, they became the owners.

A few days ago, the Ricochet club in Chicoutimi passed into the hands of four golf enthusiasts including Stéphane Maltais, a recognized golf professional and manager. With his long-time friends, Dominic Godin, Maxim Brassard and Jean-Denis Lapointe, he acquired this golf course created in 1979 and since belonging to the Immeubles Murdock company.

“We grew up with the Ricochet, we have been customers of this beautiful course for years. Dominic and I were even there as teenagers, golf instructors,” recalls Stéphane Maltais in a telephone interview.

The latter has also acted as director and professional of the club since taking possession, he who has long been associated with the Saguenay-Arvida club.

According to him, the club has immense potential with its two 9-hole courses, one of which is of the type championship and the other, executive, namely a par 27, without forgetting the practice range and the mini-putt.

“The club always has very good traffic,” says Mr. Maltais. With our 9 par 3 holes and our practice range, we have excellent potential to attract beginners. In our plans, we are considering junior camps. The creation of golf leagues is also part of our projects.”

As for possible changes to the courses, nothing particular in this direction on the horizon, he specifies, except the customary general maintenance or even a few improvements here and there. “The field is already in very good condition,” mentions the pro and director.

The sale of the Ricochet club had been in the air for several years but the final transaction materialized with the arrival of these four friends. “We were not the only ones in line to make a purchase offer,” explains Stéphane Maltais. We are happy that our offer was accepted.”
