The best players of the season are gathered at the Monticello Golf Club in northern Italy for the last event of the season. If Benjamin Kedochim (photo) is already assured of moving up, several other Tricolores could join him on the Challenge Tour.
N.C.at Cassina Rizzardi
It is in Cassina Rizzardi, a few kilometers south of Lake Como that the top 50 eligible for theAlps Tour will meet for the final battle of the season between Wednesday and Friday. This final, the 2024 Alps Tour Grand Final Presented by DEPOT- The Male Tools & Co of his full name, will distribute €50,000 (€10,000 to the winner) and above all 60,000 points (9,500 points to the winner).
Last year, the French Augustin Holé had won the title while the event was played on theAsolo Golf Club in the northeast of Italy. The member of the C&S Golf Team will be present again this year.
The weather as a justice of the peace
Players will have as their playing field the very charming Founders’ Course of this 36-hole golf course. This layout is a par 72 of 6410 meters with small greens well protected by bunkers. Flat and short, it forces players to make strategic choices from the tees with its winding fairways. This wooded course has notably hosted theItalian Open counting for the old European Tour between 1974 and 1992.
There remains one very big question: the weather. Very poor conditions are forecast for the three days with very large accumulations of water expected. Some forecasts give almost 100mm of rain over the competition period.
It is guaranteed to rise
Author of a very regular season punctuated by six podiums, Benjamin Kedochim is already assured of evolving at a minimum on the Challenge Tour next year (he will play PQ2 at the end of the month). But there is still an issue for the Reunionese. Whoever is also part of the Biarritz-based team will look to retain the top spot in the order of merit. It may prove important to secure its place in certain tournaments next season, like the first events in South Africa.
This is on very good track since he has 4,485 points ahead of his first competitor, he is even almost mathematically guaranteed to finish at least second. The big boy who celebrated his 30th birthday during his first participation in theOpen de France last week (missed cut) will retain its place if Brandon Kewalramani (2nd overall) does not win the final or does not finish alone second. Otherwise, the position this Friday of Benjamin Kedochim will be decisive.
They are in the race
There are many French people who can hope to progress to the next level next season. Double winner this season, Theo Boulet is currently in the coveted spots in fourth place. The former member of theFrench team has his destiny in hand.
Aymeric Laussot et Damien Perrier are just on the wrong side of the limit, in sixth and seventh position. But the two Tricolores are within striking distance of fifth place. The ranking is overall very tight, Theo Boulet is only 1200 points ahead of the Spaniard Mario Galiano Aguilarninth.
Nathan Legendre (10th), recently turned pro on August 30, and Paul Elissalde (14th) are a little further behind. For both men, it will be necessary to either win or finish second to enter the top 5 (in some extreme cases, second place could be insufficient).
They need a victory
Nicolas Muller (25e), Paul Margolis (27e) et Augustin Holé (29th) also have a small chance of going up. No calculations to be made before the tournament for the three men, they will have to win this Friday to get on the Challenge Tour. For the last two named, this might not even be enough in certain catastrophic scenarios.
Maxime Legros (39e), Théo Brizard (41st) and Nicolas Aparicio (55th) can no longer obtain one of the tickets for the higher level. Beyond the prize money, they will hope to enter the top 30 overall to benefit from a better category for 2025.
