With action on the program, and the appearance of some well-known actors, who we take great pleasure in seeing again. The film is directed by Jeremy Saulnier, an American filmmaker with a French-sounding surname, who has made a name for himself with his uncompromising films, such as Blue Ruin (2013) or Green Room (2015).
Rebel Ridge on Netflix, a muscular thriller that multiplies the action sequences
Rebel Ridge begins in a rather banal way. A man on a bicycle is stopped by the police, who confiscate an envelope containing the money needed to free his cousin, who is threatened with death if he lands in prison. Eager to get his money back, Terry Richmond, our hero, goes to the local police station. The beginning of a spiral of violence that nothing seems to be able to stop… Jeremy Saulnier had already worked for Netflix. It was in 2020 for No man or goda hallucinatory dive into darkness. An anxiety-provoking atmosphere here too, for a suspense that builds crescendo over the course of events, with a racial and societal dimension. A deliberately dark staging and music in the form of an incessant threatening drone adds to the heavy, and quite gripping, atmosphere. The fights and other shootings follow one another, with a very controlled climax in which bullets fly. Without a break, this thriller full of suspense is embodied by Aaron Pierre, an impressive colossus with monolithic expressions. An actor seen in Old by M. Night Shyamalan, inspired by a Swiss comic book, or in season 4 of The Morning Show. A real discovery.

Beyond Aaron Pierre, an imposing and omnipresent figure, fans will be happy to see Don Johnson in the role of the devious police boss. A former figure in the cult series of the 80s Two cops in Miamiwhich allowed Phil Collins to become known, the comedian still shows the same charisma, and he is in the process of signing a nice comeback, he who was notably part of the XXL cast ofAt Knives Out (2019). The most attentive will also recognize (or not) AnnaSophia Robb, who plays a former drug addict who comes to Terry’s aid. The actress became known when she was young, in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Tim Burton (2005) or The Secret of Terabithia (2007) alongside Josh Hutcherson, one of the figures of the saga Hunger Games. She has grown up well, and comes out with honors in a tough and moving role. In short, Rebel Ridge is not to be missed.
