“Mold”, “dying” mice… The Val-d’Oise prefecture closes part of a Leclerc supermarket

Mold, animal carcasses… The Val-d’Oise prefecture announced this Tuesday on X (ex-Twitter) the closure of part of an E.Leclerc supermarket in Franconville, in particular its bakery and its butcher’s shop, noting that the premises were “dirty and pest infested”. In photos published on social networks – a now common practice of the Val-d’Oise prefecture – mouse corpses and droppings are visible. “abundant in the pastry area”mice “living and dying in the trash in the bakery area” or even “molds” in a cabinet where bread is stored.

The bakery, butcher’s, sandwich shop, rotisserie and sushi preparation workshops of this E.Leclerc brand, located in the Parisis shopping center in the northwest of Paris, are affected by this closure. It will be lifted as soon as the establishment meets current standards, the prefecture indicated. Similar closure decisions had affected Lidl, Casino and Franprix supermarkets in the department in April and May.

Upon his arrival in 2021, the prefect of Val-d’Oise, Philippe Court, carried out health checks “a challenge of public health » and one of his priorities as a representative of the State, he explained to AFP at the end of 2023. Concerning this Leclerc, “The necessary measures were immediately taken, including the reinforcement of cleaning teams and increased intervention by the pest control company”assured the AFP, the management of the E. Leclerc store in Franconville.

Similar closure decisions had affected Lidl, Casino and Franprix supermarkets in the department in April and May. Last year, teams from the departmental directorate for the protection of populations visited 546 establishments and pronounced 83 administrative closures. Among the places pinned down, there are 53 restaurants, 11 bakeries, 2 nursing homes and a slaughterhouse. Hygiene checks which are mostly carried out on a report from the Regional Health Agency or a sick person.
