Two French players among the players nominated for the Kopa Trophy – Golden Ball

Cock-a-doodle-doo!

On October 28, we will know the name of the next Ballon d’Or, but also that of the best young player of the year 2024. This one could well be French, since Warren Zaïre-Emery (Paris Saint-Germain) and Mathys Tel (Bayern Munich) are among the ten nominees for the Kopa trophy. France can even claim the nomination of João Neves, PSG’s new recruit in the summer transfer window. Let the evil tongues be quiet, Bradley Barcola was not eligible because of his age…

Other nominees include Premier League and La Liga players. Argentinian Alejandro Garnacho and Englishman Kobbie Mainoo represent Manchester United, while Brazilian Savinho represents Manchester City. Turkish player Arda Güler (Real Madrid), who shone during the Euro, is also in the game, as is Karim Konaté (RB Salzburg), who shone during the CAN with Côte d’Ivoire. Barça has two young talents, Pau Cubarsí and the big favourite Lamine Yamal.

So this is the year we will have the first Ballon d’Or-Kopa Trophy double.

Can Cyril Linette really be the saviour of French football?
