Without SCH and threatened by rain, the Delta festival opens this Wednesday

The open secret ended yesterday afternoon, when the Delta Festival published on its social networks: “We regret to announce the cancellation of the SCH performance (…). Our thoughts are of course with SCH and his entourage at this difficult time.“A decision expected and understood by the fans of the rapper, who was one of the headliners of the opening of the festivities this evening, on the beaches of Prado in Marseille: “Predictable and normal“, “circumstances are too hard for him“, could be read among the first reactions of spectators on the web.

It must be said that since the tragedy that affected him last week in La Grande-Motte, the withdrawal of the singer from Marseille was not in doubt. As a reminder, after a showcase in the nightclub “Dune Club”, SCH had returned to the hotel of the Verchant estate, where he was staying. Later in the evening, the van that he usually uses and in which his team was, was attacked on the way back with a war weapon by four people. A shootout in which a member of the staff of the Marseillais, lost his life, while the driver, also hit by several bullets, was seriously injured. The investigation entrusted to the gendarmes of the Montpellier Research Section is still ongoing, and is currently focusing on a lead linked to drug trafficking.

Regarding the opening of the Delta today, the programming has logically been modified. Assuring to have learned “late“The withdrawal of SCH, the Delta team announced this Wednesday morning changes concerning the concerts planned on the main stage. Thus, Moxo will open the show at 6 p.m., following his show scheduled on the Eden stage from 4 p.m. to 5:55 p.m. After this electronic intro, Julien Granel will take over from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Initially scheduled for 8 p.m., the group Caravan Palace will finally begin its show time at 9:45 p.m. While the star duo Justice has been slightly brought forward to 11:45 p.m. instead of midnight. Furthermore, the festival team reminded yesterday that no refunds would be made to festival-goers due to the withdrawal of SCH, since the rest of the concerts are maintained. Finally, if the weather decides to be mild…

“A meteorologist gives us an update every four hours”

Because the threat has been coming from the sky for a few days: according to Météo-France forecasts, the sky should clear this morning. But the hope could be short-lived with precipitation and risks of thunderstorms from noon, for weather that could remain capricious all evening.

As for the Delta Festival, whose last round of the 2023 edition had been cancelled due to bad weather, the team displayed its serenity yesterday late afternoon: “For the moment, there is no question of cancelling this first evening. We are in contact with a meteorologist who gives us an update every four hours. The problem is not the rain, against which we have reinforced our measures to best accommodate spectators and artists. On the other hand, if a storm were to fall, no risk would be taken in terms of security.

If an unfortunate decision were to be made, it would probably be made as close as possible to the start of the concerts, at 4 p.m. But as everyone knows, nothing is ever certain with the weather.
