RTL GUEST – Matignon: “It’s not the name that counts”, Fabien Roussel rules out systematic censorship

Xavier Bertrand, Bernard Cazeneuve or a technical profile, the appointment of a new Prime Minister is still awaited on September 4. “It’s chaos in France,” summarizes Fabien Roussel at the microphone of Thomas Sotto in RTL Morning“The French have been waiting for two months, even the business world is worried about not knowing what will happen when the school year starts again,” assures the national secretary of communist party.

Fabien Roussel confirms having been called by Emmanuel Macron Tuesday, like many other political leaders. Where Jean-Luc Mélenchon hammered home “the program, the whole program, nothing but the program”, Fabien Roussel affirms that the NFP holds a more flexible line with the head of state.

“We said that we are for compromises, for dialogue, we have written to all the Republican groups,” he assures, specifying all the same some measures on which the left will not compromise. “On pension reform, we say that it must be repealed or suspended until 2027,” says Fabien Roussel, who adds another central point: “wage increases“.

It is not the name that counts, it is the substance, the policy that will be implemented.

On the Matignon side, Xavier Bertrand’s name is now circulating insistently. While the RN quickly announced that it would carry a motion of censure if he were to be appointed, the NFP wants, according to Fabien Roussel, “to know the policy applied” rather than immediate censorship“It is not the name that counts, it is the substance, the policy that will be implemented.”

“Whatever the Prime Minister that the president appoints, what we want is change, a break with Macron’s policy,” he continues. There is no question of moving away from the alliance formed by the left-wing parties either: “All the left-wing deputies are united, we want to form a bloc, to weigh in to obtain improvements.”

And to conclude: “This is not the whole program of the NFP, only the program, we want to build compromises, parliamentary majorities and changes for the French people.”
