Caroline, Dominique Pélicot’s daughter, leaves the courtroom after reading the facts

The second day of the trial of Dominique Pélicot, a pensioner tried in Avignon for drugging his wife and recruiting dozens of strangers on the internet to rape her over a ten-year period, is devoted this Tuesday to the harrowing reading of the events suffered by the wife and daughter of the main accused.

It is another trying day for the victims of Dominique Pélicot. His daughter, Caroline Darian, had to leave the room mLess than 20 minutes after the start of the hearing, this Tuesday, September 3, before the criminal court of Vaucluse, in Avignon. The president Roger Arata coldly began his reading of the summary of the 31-volume case, for which 51 men have been tried since yesterday, without any prior word for Gisèle P. and her three children, many intimate details of whom will be revealed throughout this second day of trial.

Caroline Darian, author of the book “And I Stopped Calling You Dad” published in 2022, was seized with tremors when the president read a passage about her. SIncluding the husband, who was tried for drugging his wife and recruiting dozens of strangers on the internet to rape her over a ten-year period, 72 men were identified in total by investigators. from photos and videos of the events taken by Dominique P. himself. Only 50 of them have been identified and arrested. They risk up to 20 years in prison for aggravated rape.

It was when the President of the Court explained that photomontages of Caroline, naked, were also found on her computer, in a folder titled “Around my daughter, naked”, that the latter collapsed in tears, supported by her two brothers and her mother.

Then, faced with the litany of details, Caroline Darian left the room trembling, escorted by her two brothers and her lawyer, Me Antoine Camus, before reappearing some twenty minutes later. Gisèle Pélicot, for her part, remained completely along the long litany of facts, very calm, as if distant. Across the room, across from her, her husband and chief aggressor, appeared impassive to the statement of facts, in the box where the 18 accused appearing in custody appeared.
