New revelations on the aborted transfer of Ernest Nuamah

As every year, the transfer window sometimes offers us unexpected scenarios. In France, it was the case of Ernest Nuamah’s transfer to Fulham that got people talking. As a reminder, last July, Olympique Lyonnais exercised the €28.5 million purchase option to permanently keep the 20-year-old Ghanaian winger. But faced with the Gones’ need for cash, the player was then pushed towards the exit.

Everything seemed to be settled then. OL had reached an agreement with Fulham on the basis of a transfer worth €19 million and the player had given his agreement to the Cottagers. Certain to sell their winger, the Rhone management had even already found his replacement in the person of Carlos Forbs. And then everything fell apart on the last day of the transfer window. Very quickly, the media announced that the deal had been cancelled by the player.

Nuamah is a fugitive

Nuamah felt pushed out and refused to sign with the Londoners. An aborted transfer which would not have tarnished his relations with his club, in particular because Forbs never came to the banks of the Rhone. This Tuesday, The Team confirms in its edition of the day that all is well between OL and Nuamah. On the other hand, the daily newspaper gave us some additional details of this turnaround. Thus, Nuamah would have taken very badly the pressure that John Textor and Matthieu Louis-Jean (the recruitment director) put on him to agree to leave.

Deeply affected while he had plans to stay in Lyon and even buy a house there, Nuamah was reportedly seen in tears on Friday, when Fulham sent a team to France to carry out the traditional medical examination. That’s when the unexpected happened. Before the end of the medical examination, Nuamah disappeared into thin air without giving any news to his club or his agent and never returned. Once the affair was aborted, Textor allegedly sent a letter of apology to his player and the two parties made up. Nuamah will now be able to buy his house in Lyon.
