the victim known in the South of Meuse

A dramatic road accident occurred on Sunday, September 1, shortly before 4 p.m., between Eclaron and Braucourt. At the Beaulieu crossroads, a light vehicle and a minibus collided.

On board the light vehicle was its only occupant, who died on the scene: Alain Fortin, aged 61 and living in Bar-le-Duc. The man is well-known in the South of Meuse, he is the partner of the manager of the Ecuries de Jeand’Heurs and is the father of five children. According to our information, the sixty-year-old, who specialises in breeding competition horses, was returning from a competition in Fontainebleau (Seine-et-Marne) when the tragedy occurred. Beyond the region, Alain Fortin is a figure in the equestrian world at the national level. Tributes were paid to him in this capacity during the day of 2 September.

Three seriously injured still in critical condition

The other people involved, Romanian nationals, were in the minibus: a 22-year-old woman, taken to Chaumont hospital, injured but not in life-threatening condition; and three other seriously injured people, still in critical condition at the time of publication: a 43-year-old woman, a 50-year-old man and a 53-year-old man. All three were airlifted to three different hospitals, namely Reims, Nancy and Dijon.
