Iga æwiñtek in the US Open quarterfinals! The concert started in the second set! Tennis

Iga Świątek is getting going from match to match at this year’s US Open. She started off below expectations, as she had problems with Kamilla Rakhimova (104th WTA) in the first round of the New York event. In turn, she gave up just one game to her next opponent, Ena Shibahara (217th WTA). Her best match, however, was against Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (27th WTA). She defeated the Russian 6:4, 6:2, not having to defend a single break point throughout the match.

Iga Świątek’s Jubilee. 100th Grand Slam Match

Iga Świątek faced another player from this country – Ludmila Samsonova (16th WTA) – for the quarterfinals of the New York event. The tennis players fought for the last place in the best eight and a clash with Jessica Pegula (6th WTA), who had earlier confidently defeated Diana Sznajder (18th WTA) 6:4, 6:2. For the world ranking leader, it was the hundredth singles match in her career in the Grand Slam. She won 82 of them.

Świątek started this match very focused. There were a few forehand errors, but this is a feature of the Polish player’s game, because her opponents often attack this side. She served very effectively, however. – Physically, Iga looks phenomenal today – complimented our tennis player Dawid Celt, commenting on this match on Eurosport.

The 23-year-old, however, failed to break her opponent in the fourth game, despite two break points, because Samsonova was no worse than the Pole in terms of serving quality. It was a high-level match. The Russian lost her way at the decisive moment of the set. Stiffened, she made four unforced errors. The break meant that Iga Świątek won the set 6:4.

From that moment on, Ludmila Samsonova’s game began to fall apart more and more. The percentage of first serves hit dropped, the number of errors increased. This resulted in a quick break. The Russian’s legs stopped working, and Iga Świątek was riding away, winning several games in a row – including a 9-minute one – which definitely ended her opponent’s hopes. The series stopped at seven.

In the second consecutive match, the Polish tennis player did not allow her opponent to have a single break point and after an hour and a half she celebrated her advancement to the best eight of the New York tournament – 6:4, 6:1. It was a very solid match for Iga Świątek, who will face Jessica Pegula in the quarterfinals of the US Open. This match will take place on Wednesday. We will inform you about the exact time.
