This is a royal return as we like them! The good news comes from Sweden and it surprised everyone on this September 2, 2024. In the middle of the afternoon, the royal family’s Instagram account posted a tender photo of the couple accompanied by an unexpected caption. “Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia are very pleased to announce that the princess is expecting the couple’s fourth child,” reads the caption. The couple had attended the wedding of Princess Märtha-Louise of Norway and Durek Verrett on August 31 without anything suggesting such news.

The 45-year-old son of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia and Princess Sofia, 39, are already parents to three boys. Prince Alexander, 8, Prince Gabriel, 7, and the youngest, Julian, 3. The last family portrait was during the summer holidays, when the prince, his wife and his beloved children wished the Swedish people a wonderful summer. The baby will be positioned in 8th place in the succession to the throne. Crown Princess Victoria and her two children, Estelle and Oscar, are ahead of Prince Carl Philip and his boys.
In February 2025, a little boy or girl will come to share the games of his three older brothers, surely at the height of happiness. A new arrival who will be pampered by his reigning grandparents, his aunt Victoria, but also his aunt, Princess Madeleine, who returned permanently to Sweden with her family a few months ago after six years spent in Florida, in the United States. The Swedish Royal House specifies in its press release, on social networks as well as on its website, that the mother “is doing well” and that “no changes are planned to Princess Sofia’s official program”.
