Shortly after the start of the school year, the kindergarten teacher at the Bergers school in Marseille suffered a cardiac arrest. She died on the spot, reports France 3.
A shock. On this Monday, September 2, the first day of the school year, a tragedy shook the Bergers nursery school, located in the heart of Marseille, in the city’s sixth arrondissement. A school teacher fell ill, shortly after eight o’clock, in her classroom, the rectorate told France 3 Provence-Alpes. The teacher was 57 years old.
The victim collapsed in front of her young pupils in the Grande Section, while some parents were still present in the room. The fifty-year-old could not be transported to the nearest hospital, she died on the spot, despite the intervention of the battalion of marine firefighters called to the scene. According to France Bleu Provence, the teacher was the victim of cardiac arrest. However, for the time being, the exact circumstances of the tragedy and the medical history of the victim are not known.
A psychological cell open for a week
As after any psycho-traumatic event, a psychological unit was opened urgently in the public establishment which welcomes around 200 students. According to our colleagues, it will remain in place all week to allow to receive all the students and teachers who feel the need. The director of the Marseille academy immediately went to the site, indicated the rectorate.
