iPad 11, iPad Mini 7, Mac mini M4… the new products coming from Apple

In addition to its iPhone 16, Apple is reportedly planning to present two new iPads and a Mac mini M4. Here are some of the details circulating about them a week before the Apple brand’s back-to-school Keynote.

As Apple’s back-to-school keynote, scheduled for September 9, 2024, approaches, Apple’s back-to-school schedule seems to be getting heavier. While we’re obviously expecting the iPhone 16 in September, other products should also come out of the woodwork, according to the very well-informed newspaper Bloomberg.

A more accessible 11th generation iPad or an even cheaper iPad 10

First major piece of information, Apple would like to focus on “how to reduce production costs on the entry-level model”. The interpretation of this little sentence is open. Does this mean that a next iPad 11 is to be expected at an even more competitive price than the 439 euros, or would the current iPad 10 benefit from a new price drop? This would be very surprising, given that it already benefited from a price drop last June, during WWDC 2024.

An iPad mini with an AI twist

The iPad mini hasn’t evolved since 2021. It would therefore be high time for a refresh. For its 7th generation, Apple would have planned to integrate the new A18 chip in order to allow it to take advantage of all the new AI features. The screen, if it would keep the LCD technology, would solve the jelly scrolling problem that affected the old model.

Additionally, the 7th generation iPad mini could finally see its base configuration start at 128GB versus the current 64GB.

Two new Magic Keyboards

In addition to the new iPads, Apple will reportedly use the conference to introduce new keyboards for the iPad Air and base iPads. We shouldn’t expect an aluminum keyboard like the one on the iPad Pro, but rather a plastic one.

Mac mini M4

The Mac mini M4 is expected to be introduced with a completely new design that would therefore change a 14-year-old design. Apple would of course take the opportunity to integrate its new M4 chip, but also permanently remove the USB-A port. The brand would now rely exclusively on USB-C ports, five in number, including two on the front.

According to 9to5Macon the rest of the Mac range, the apple company should offer a minor refresh with the move to 16 GB of RAM across the range. The iMac and MacBook Pro should also move to the M4 chip.
