A ranking similar to that of last week to end these summer holidays, and start the return on the right foot.

Still dashing is in its tenth week, The Count of Monte Cristo retains its first place with 300,000 new admissions, and a cumulative total of 7.6 million (M). Pathé’s vengeful fresco only loses 14% of attendance, and maintains an excellent average of 40 admissions per screening (e/s). It is now only 400,000 tickets away from the cape (and sword) of 8 M; this would be the first time since 1998 that three films have exceeded this threshold. But to do so, the Count must face his probably most formidable adversary: the start of the school year.

Also at Pathé, the breath ofEmilia Perez is not weakening. Jacques Audiard’s new feature film sold 150,000 tickets (-21%) and has now accumulated 408,000. It is slightly below the running times of Brothers Sisterswhich also attracted 150,000 spectators to the same stadium in 2018, but was down to 450,000 in total (final cumulative at 868,000).

Jamais plus : It Ends With Us never ceases to amaze. Sony’s dramatic romance saw 210,000 admissions, a 7% increase over last weekend – while its number of screenings increased by 15% – for a total of 810,000 tickets. It could become the first romance to exceed one million admissions, more than five years after After – Chapter 1 (1,2 M).

Garfield: Hero in Reluctance is the second film that Sony places in the top 10. With 59,000 admissions, the greedy cat only loses 11% of its attendance, for a total of 744,000; a result equal to that of the Jungle Ace 2 at the same stage (cumulative at 839,000), released around the same time last year.

Three films distributed by Disney are in the ranking, starting with Deadpool & Wolverine which fell slightly (-28%) to 154,000 spectators. With a total of 3.4 million, it is slightly behind the first Deadpool (3.6 M at the same stage, cumulative at 3.7 M) which sold 50,000 fewer tickets on its sixth weekend.
Far away in space, Alien : Romulus counts 145,000 tickets (-30%) and brings its total to 890,000; almost 200,000 less than its predecessor Alien : Covenant (cumulative to 1.2 M in 2017).
Finally, after eleven weeks, Vice-versa 2 falls below 100,000 admissions (92,000). With 8.2 million tickets, the Pixar has had a career full of emotions, which has taken it to tenth place among the biggest animated successes in France.

In the rest of the ranking, Despicable Me 4 harvests 135,000 entries (-6%) for a solid total of 4.1 M, A little something extra is chaining its 17th week above 100,000 and ends a summer with more than 2.6 million tickets, and Trap exceeds 800,000 tickets with its weekend at 71,000 (-35%).

In total, the top 10 achieved 1.4 million admissions, a decrease of 17% compared to last weekend. It is also the first time in more than five years that no new release has entered the ranking: Cracked is satisfied with 50,000 entries, The Prisoner of Bordeaux of 42,000 and Evil AI et The night drags on of 39,000 each. This confirms that attendance in recent weeks has mainly been driven by continuations, as evidenced by the August results.
