Fatal illness at the start of the school year: teacher collapses in front of her nursery class

This Monday was the first day back at school for many students and teachers. But in the small nursery school of Les Bergers, located in the 6th arrondissement of the Phocaean city, the day turned into a tragedy. A teacher of the senior section suffered a heart attack in front of her students and died on the spot, announced the rectorate quoted by France 3.

A psychological unit set up

As the children of this nursery school had just started school, the 57-year-old teacher suddenly fell in front of her class shortly after 8am this morning. Some parents of pupils were still present, notes the local media.

Marseille firefighters were dispatched to the scene and tried to resuscitate the fifty-year-old. Despite several attempts, the teacher died on the spot.

The academic director visited the establishment located near Cours Julien, a busy district of Marseille, and announced the establishment of a psychological unit which welcomes nearly 200 students.
