Wojciech Szczęsny is preparing to retraite!

After Claudio Bravo, it is a second great goalkeeper of recent years who is retiring from professional football this Tuesday. Indeed, after the end of his contract last June with Juventus Turin, Wojciech Szczesny decided to bow out this Tuesday at only 34 years old. With a rich career that he began in 2009 at Arsenal, the Polish goalkeeper will also have worn the colors of Brentford, Roma and Juventus Turin during his career. It is therefore in the goals of the Turin club that the Polish international with 84 caps played his last match last May. To announce his retirement, the Warsaw native split a touching message on social networks.

«In June 2006, I left my hometown of Warsaw to join Arsenal with one dream: to make a living from football. Little did I know that this would be the start of a lifelong journey. Little did I know that I would play for the biggest clubs in the world and represent my country 84 times. Little did I know that not only would I make a living from football, but that football would become my life.
I have not only achieved my dreams, I have reached places where my imagination did not even dare to take me. (…) Today, even though my body still feels ready to take on challenges, my heart is no longer in it. I think it is time to devote all my attention to my family – my wonderful wife Marina and our two beautiful children Liam and Noelia. That is why I have decided to retire from professional football. The end of a journey is a moment of reflection and gratitude. There are many people I should thank here, but I will try to do it personally with each of them. But it is to you, the fans, that I owe a special thank you for taking this journey with me. For the support and the criticism, for the love and the hate, for being the most beautiful and romantic part of football. Without you, none of this would make sense! Thank you! Now, every story has an end, but in life, every end is a new beginning. Only time will tell what this new path will bring us. But if the last 18 years have taught me anything, it’s that nothing is impossible and believe me, I’m going to dream big.
