The Paris Paralympic Games once again offer, on Monday, September 2, a wide choice of sports. There will be something for everyone, with many finals not to be missed in several disciplines. The French are on all fronts, starting with the triathlon, through swimming, badminton and even boccia.
The three events not to be missed: triathlon, blind football and swimming
Scheduled for Sunday but postponed due to the quality of the water in the Seine, the big triathlon day will finally take place on Monday. The streets of Paris could become the scene of success for many French people, with the Bleus aiming to win several medals among the 11 competitions on the program. From the first event in the PTWC category, Louis Noël will seek to offer France its first medal (8:15). Mona Francis (PTWC, 8:20), Cédric Denuzière (PTS3, 9:25), Thibaut Rigaudeau and Antoine Pérel (PTVI, 12:00), as well as Héloïse Courvoisier and Annouck Curzillat (PTVI, 12:05) represent real chances of medals. In Nanterre, spectators at the Paris La Défense Arena will once again see many French people in the Paralympic pool. The first French Paralympic champion, Ugo Didier, should qualify in the morning for the final at 5:52 p.m. of the 50 m freestyle in S9 with Hector Denayer. Just after, Dimitri Granjux, the third best performer in the world this season, will aim for a medal in the 50 m backstroke S3 (final at 5:58 p.m.). Even if the 50 m freestyle S13 is not his preferred distance, Alex Portal has the chance to win a third medal in his Games (final at 18:42). The swimming day will conclude in style at 20:09 with a mixed 4x100m medley relay.

The triathlon day will also be Alexis Hanquinquant’s. The flag bearer of the Blues has already won everything in his career (multiple gold medallist at the World Championships, European Championships and at the last Paralympic Games in Tokyo). A new triumph, at home, could be the ultimate consecration. His race starts at 12:25 p.m. in the PTS4, with two other French people, Pierre-Antoine Baele and Grégoire Berthon, who will also be able to dream of a podium.
The Arena Porte de la Chapelle will be at the heart of this fifth day of Paralympic competition, with crucial issues at stake for the French in badminton. On this final day of competition, Lucas Mazur’s matches will be among the highlights to follow. The Tokyo Paralympic champion will defend his SL4 title against the Indian Suhas Lalinakere YathirajThe Girondin will also have the opportunity to win a second medal with the small final of the mixed doubles SL3-SU5 with Faustine Noël.
We will also have to follow Aurélie Aubert in the individual boccia final at 10:30 a.m. After several narrowly won matches, the native of Dreux, accompanied by Claudine Llop Cliville, her game assistant, will face Yee Ting Jeralyn Tan. The individual boccia competitions will conclude on Monday, with six gold medals awarded at the Paris Sud Arena. The mixed archery teams will take their places on the Esplanade des Invalides.
