“Quotidien” on TMC: Yann Barthès’ show will no longer invite “politicians”, who have “become inaudible”

They have “become inaudible.” The show “Quotidien,” broadcast every evening of the week on TMC, will no longer invite “politicians,” announced host Yann Barthès on Saturday.

“This season, we are going to stop hosting politicians anyway, except for exceptions such as a major figure returning to the public debate or a book release,” assured Yann Barthès in an interview with Tribune Dimanche, published Saturday evening. “Politicians have become inaudible and are rolling out their talking points on all sets,” added the host, stressing that there were “forty-eight hours of political interviews on TV every week.”

“I have in mind an interview I did this season with Manon Aubry (the leader of the rebels for the European elections), justified Yann Barthès. She started a sentence and I was able to finish it because I had heard it for a week.

“The same team of columnists”

The presenter of the show has refused for several years to invite representatives of the National Rally (RN). “I want to receive people who respect me and respect our teams on the ground. This is not the case,” he explained, recalling that “several of our journalists have been molested” and that “the RN refuses to accredit us to its meetings and press conferences.” He had already been able to say this in the National Assembly during debates on the renewal of frequencies.

After a summer break, “Quotidien” will be back on TMC on Monday with “the same team of columnists.” “Starting this Monday, the American election will be very present,” revealed the host, indicating that journalist Martin Weill will be on hand to cover them. A special program dedicated to Michel Denisot, the former host of Canal+’s Grand Journal, where Yann Barthès started, is also in preparation “for this fall,” he assured.
