LIVE. New Prime Minister: centrists from the LIOT group received at the Élysée for the second round of consultations

Emmanuel Macron resumes consultations

Following a first wave of interviews held on Friday and Monday at the Elysée with party leaders, seven weeks after the legislative elections which plunged the country into political impasse, the head of state is still not in a position to appoint a Prime Minister.

The NFP continues to campaign for Lucie Castets and refuses to participate in the consultations

While the leader of the communists, Fabien Roussel, called for a “major popular mobilization” in response to the choice of the head of state, the figures of the NFP, from Marine Tondelier to Olivier Faure, including Lucie Castets, refuse to participate in the second round of consultations led by the President of the Republic.

LFI threatens Macron with impeachment

For his part, the coordinator of La France Insoumise, Manuel Bompard, immediately denounced on BFMTV “an unacceptable anti-democratic coup” and indicated that he intended to carry out the threat of initiating impeachment proceedings against Emmanuel Macron.

A tight schedule for Macron

However, his choice is becoming urgent as Gabriel Attal has been managing current affairs at Matignon for 41 days already, something never seen since the post-war period. And time is running out to present a budget before October 1st.
