Public holidays 2024-2025: we tell you how to take 57 days of vacation by only taking 25 days off

Almost no public holidays will fall on a weekend in the coming months, here’s how to make the most of them.

Good news for the 2024-2025 period: almost no public holidays fall on a weekend, which means you can enjoy three-day breaks several times in the coming months… if not more, by strategically scheduling your days off.

Here are when the public holidays fall:

  • All Saints’ Day: Friday, November 1, 2024
  • Armistice 1918: Monday, November 11, 2024
  • Christmas: Wednesday, December 25, 2024
  • New Year’s Day: Wednesday, January 1, 2025
  • Easter Monday: Monday, April 21, 2025
  • Labor Day: Thursday, May 1, 2025
  • Victory 1945: Thursday May 8, 2025
  • Ascension: Thursday, May 29, 2025
  • Whit Monday: Monday, June 9, 2025
  • National holiday: Monday July 14, 2025
  • Assumption: Friday, August 15, 2025
  • All Saints’ Day: Saturday, November 1, 2025
  • Armistice 1918: Tuesday, November 11, 2025
  • Christmas: Thursday, December 25, 2025

How to optimize your rest?

You should already have a three-day weekend in 2024 for All Saints’ Day and the 1918 Armistice, and in 2025 for Easter, Whit Monday and Assumption Day. But by planning your holidays well, you can do much better.

To start 2025 off right, you could give yourself five days off by taking only two days off: Monday 30 and Tuesday 31 December. The weekend just before and New Year’s Day on Wednesday should allow for a smooth transition into 2025.

The best move to make is in May 2025. If you take 5 days off (May 2, May 5, May 6, May 7 and May 9), you will accumulate 11 days of rest thanks to the magic of public holidays.

The website démarchesadministratives.fr goes even further and suggests taking 25 days of leave in 2025… to gain 57. Here are some techniques:

  • Easter 2025: take 9 days off between Tuesday April 22 and Friday May 2, you will have 16 days off (between Saturday April 19 and Sunday May 4)
  • Ascension 2025: take Friday May 30 to have a 4-day weekend
  • National Day 2025: taking Tuesday July 15 and Wednesday July 16 allows for a 5-day extended weekend
  • Assumption 2025: Wednesday August 13 and Thursday August 14 also offers a 5-day extended weekend
  • Armistice: taking four days off from Monday 10 to Friday 14 November allows you to have 9 days of rest in a row
  • Christmas: taking four days off from Monday 22 December to Friday 26 December provides a period of 9 days of leave
