French D1 Club Championship (ladies and gentlemen): Triathlon Toulouse Métropole secures survival

the essential
Since September 7, the TTM women’s team and men’s team have saved their places in the elite. But for the last stage of the season, scheduled this morning in Vendée in Saint-Jean-de-Monts, there is still a lot at stake for the Toulouse delegation.

“We can’t say that it’s completely a done deal yet. But the maintenance is on the very, very good track.” These were the words of Nicolas Le Hir (president of Triathlon Toulouse Métropole www.triathlontoulousemetropole.com) at the end of the first three stages of this French D1 club championship, called “Lindahls Pro + Triathlon Series”. This time, the TTM manager can say: “Yes, the maintenance is official for our women’s team and for our men’s team”.

The verdict was given on September 7 in Quiberon (Morbihan) during the penultimate meeting of the season. Honor to the women of the Toulouse club, ranked 5th in Brittany thanks to the results of the Hungarian Karolina Horvath (9th overall), the Italian Carlota Bonacina (13th) and the French Lola Bachet (32nd). “For the first time, during the race, we had four triathletes from the club placed in the leading group until the bike event. As for the general classification of the championship, the girls are installed in 5th position, which is for the moment our best performance”, explains Nicolas Le Hir.

Overall, the TTM men’s team is in 8th position

However, to keep this No. 5 rank, the Toulousaines will have to fight today in Vendée, in Saint-Jean-de-Monts. “They are only one length behind 4th place, currently occupied by Vals du Dauphiné Olympic. But behind, Metz (6th) and Les Sables-d’Olonne (7th) are only two and five units behind us respectively. This suspense allows us to have a group of triathletes always concerned to finish the championship well”, specifies the president of Triathlon Toulouse Métropole.

For its part, the TTM men’s team, led in particular by the Frenchman Nathan Lessmann (9th), the Hungarian Gergely Kiss (11th) and the other Frenchman Arthur Berland (39th), also finished the Breton stopover in 5th position. Overall, the Toulousains are in 8th place. “They are ten points ahead of Vienne Condrieu (9th) and eight behind Saint-Jean-de-Monts (7th) and Poissy (6th). So, in principle, the boys should finish the season in this 8th place”, underlines Nicolas Le Hir.

Whatever the outcome of this final stage (start at 9am for the ladies and 11am for the gentlemen), the Triathlon Toulouse Métropole can be proud of the progress made. “Of course, we are very happy for our protégés, boys and girls alike. In addition, in Quiberon, the field was very high-level. The pride is also to say that our results in D1 were obtained by focusing above all on young French players, while remaining a family club”, concludes the president of the TTM. Let’s hope it lasts.
