The first flakes of winter have already arrived in Ariège. Expected this Friday morning, the snow made a brief appearance on the Ariège peaks.
The Ariège Pyrenees already under snow? Not really, but the lucky ones who were at an altitude of 1,500 meters and above were entitled to see the first snowfall of the year… Starting this Friday, September 13, 2024.
At the heart of this “polar air flow”, the low temperatures of the morning have therefore brought the first flakes. Whether in Ax 3 Domaines, Beille or the Monts d’Olmes, the snow fell sparingly for a few minutes. Not enough to whiten the ground but to put a smile on the faces of winter sports enthusiasts.
Emmanuel Martinez, manager of Soularac Sport, at the foot of the Monts d’Olmes, immortalized the moment. “I wasn’t surprised because low temperatures were forecast. This suggests a great winter and allows us to be optimistic.” Obviously, this first little snowfall doesn’t mean anything, but after some rather difficult winters for winter sports resorts, it gives hope.
