In Vendômois, the flood of the Loir forces the closure of all schools

Crisis unit this Thursday evening, October 10, 2024 for a number of elected officials from Vendômois confronted with the consequences of the flood of the Loir, greater than expected due to the rains on Tuesday and Wednesday, particularly in Eure-et-Loir. Municipal safeguarding plans are implemented.

The crisis unit mobilized

As a preventive measure, the prefecture has decided that no transport will be provided this Friday and that all establishments welcoming children will be closed, whether schools, colleges or high schools, i.e. around thirty municipalities concerned. The boarding schools were evacuated this Thursday.

Same decision concerning, for example, the Institut Médico-Educatif (IME) des Sables in Naveil. On orders from the regional health agency (ARS), this Thursday afternoon and evening, professionals from the establishment as part of the Blue Plan contacted families as well as the usual transport services to evacuate young people in day reception like those in accommodation. As a precaution, the entrance gates of the establishment have been protected for two days by sandbags placed by the town hall.

Evacuation of the Grands-Prés campsite

At the heart of the crisis unit, Laurent Brillard, mayor of Vendôme, announced this Thursday evening the evacuation of the old funds of the municipal and community archives service. Furthermore, all occupants of the Grands-Prés private campsite were evacuated and diversion plans were being developed depending on the streets which will be impassable and closed to traffic.

And like other elected officials from Vendôme, with the services of the sub-prefecture, he prepared to work a good part of the night to find accommodation solutions if necessary, to ensure the proper functioning of water points, sanitation network…
