On Saturday October 5, 2024 around 11:30 p.m., a Mercedes E class car fatally struck a 16-year-old pedestrian on rue Etienne-Mimard in the direction of rue de la Montat in Saint-Etienne.
The driver mowed down this young man who was crossing the road outside the pedestrian crossings.
He died of his injuries in hospital
After the shock, the teenager, thrown approximately 50 meters, was nevertheless conscious. He was taken care of by the emergency services.
During medical check-ups, his condition worsened. The victim was transported to CHU Nord, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Arrested, the driver was indicted for manslaughter, aggravated by the clearly deliberate violation of the obligation to respect the speed of 50 km/hour in the city.
26 deaths on the roads
He was placed under judicial control with a driving ban. As a reminder, the motorist tested negative for alcohol and drugs.
The number of road deaths to date stands at 26 compared to 22 in 2023 on the same date.
