Charcot’s disease: “I’m exhausted, I’m not going to lie to you”, Bruno Solo’s 48 hours in the role of a caregiver

Bruno Solo is obviously sincere. He visibly does not hide his relief when she returns, and sits down in the family living room. “ I’m not going to lie to you, I’m exhausted, exhausted, but it’s really tiring “, he blurted out, his features drawn. The actor has just spent 48 hours with Loriane’s husband, suffering from Charcot’s disease, all filmed by Télévision teams for a program which wants to give pride of place to caregivers, these loved ones about whom we almost never speak. and who wear themselves out for the love and life of their loved ones.

This moment with Bruno Solo vibrates with emotion. His voice chokes as he tells. “ When you left, he immediately placed his trust in me. It’s poignant for me to say it like that. He gave me his trust, he said to me: ‘I want to pee’», he says, moved to have been so accepted in Thierry’s life. The actor describes a “ partner of every moment ».

“That’s his daily life”

« Every second I thought of you”he addresses Loriane, his wife, who since her husband’s illness, has been juggling children, her professional life and then her life with her husband. “ I say to myself: ‘that’s his daily life.’ And again, I only did that, I was an almost professional caregiver. Whereas you are a caregiver and then you go to work with your students, and then you come back, and then in the evening, you talk with your kids… I said to myself: ‘all this physical, mental, psychological load that you do it with this smile, this mood that is yours’… I said to myself: ‘I have no right to be upset about you’. »

The husband, Thierry, 45 years old, and father of three children, also contains his emotion. Four years ago, his life changed. He was diagnosed with Charcot’s disease. And this mechanic in aeronautics had to review everything, his objectives, his priorities. Him and also his whole family, especially his wife, Loriane, who now juggles her professional life, her children and her husband who is now in a wheelchair. She has become a caregiver in spite of herself, and most often, she is all alone.

This is the whole point of this program “Caregivers, it’s time to help them”, proposed by the host and ex-swimmer, Théo Curin: to show what the life of a caregiver is like. This television moment is broadcast this Tuesday, October 8 at 9:05 p.m. on France5. Théo Curin called on Bruno Solo and Clémentine Célarié who also played the game in another situation with a quadriplegic child.
