The police custody of four people extended after the intervention of the police in Rimogne

Traffic ok. Tranquility back. On this Monday, October 7, 2024, Rimogne regained its usual tranquility after a hectic end to the weekend. Sunday October 6, 2024, the departmental road which crosses the town of 1,300 inhabitants and which links Charleville-Mézières to Hirson had been blocked for almost two hours due to the intervention of the gendarmerie forces.

Four people were arrested and taken into custody on Sunday evening. After twenty-four hours – the maximum duration during which the gendarmes can keep a person – police custody was prolonged twenty-four hours by the Charleville-Mézières public prosecutor’s office, as the law allows. A way for investigators to try to determine the circumstances and the roles played by each person in the events which took place on Rue Pasteur.

Four people were taken into police custody for acts of kidnapping

Magali Josse, public prosecutor

« These four adults were placed in police custody for acts of sequestration towards a victim who is not injured », Explains this Monday Magali Josse, the public prosecutor.

Back to the facts: Sunday, around 5:30 p.m., the gendarmes intervened in a house on rue Pasteur. The tenant of the accommodation and another resident of Rimogne are holding back a third man. The first’s companion is also present. A command cell for the operation was set up in the town hall.

“He’s already been to prison.”

« The tenant of the accommodation has lived there for less than three years”explains a neighbor today who mentions a man in his thirties, “ known to the gendarmerie because he has already done prison ».

As for the second man, “ he arrived in Rimogne a short time ago ».

On social networks, rumors have been buzzing since Sunday evening. Rumors which are not information and which we will not relay here. Elements should be discussed at the end of the forty-eight hours in police custody of the four people, Tuesday October 8, around 8 p.m.
