It is rare to see a figure of banditry at the Le Mans court. This Friday, October 4, Arnaud Mimran, particularly known for having carried out “the scam of the century” which cost him eight years in prison, was tried for receiving cell phones. The hearing was adjourned until November 8. The businessman asked for time to prepare his defense.
Arnaud Mimran resold cell phones, chargers and USB keys. The objects, which he recovered illegally, were found in his cell in Coulaines, where he has been incarcerated for almost a year. While awaiting his trial, he is placed in pre-trial detention with a committal warrant.
A criminal record as long as an arm
If Arnaud Mimran hit the headlines with the scam to the carbon taxhe has been continuously involved in business in recent years. He was sentenced to thirteen years in prison in 2022 for the kidnapping of a Swiss banker. He is also indicted in three assassination cases, including that of his former father-in-law, billionaire Claude Dray, in 2011.
If he appeared today for concealment offenses at Coulaines prison, this is not a first. In 2017, he was accused of organizing a corruption network at Fresnes prison. He was finally released. The director of the establishment had been convicted of passive corruption of a person holding public authority.
