Late Saturday night, the Texas Tech football team will take on Arizona in the season’s third Big 12 contest. Looking to move to 5-1 overall and 3-0 in conference play, the Red Raiders will face just their second road trip of the season.

They will catch a Wildcat team that should be feeling pretty good about itself. Last week, Arizona secured a 23-10 win over then-No. Utah in Salt Lake City.

The Wildcats are now 3-1 on the year and 1-0 in Big 12 action. However, it is still fair to wonder how strong their team is.

In week one, the Wildcats beat a bad New Mexico team that is currently just 1-4 on the season. Then, in week two, they were unimpressive in a 22-10 victory over FCS opponent Northern Arizona.

The third game of the year for Arizona was a disaster. They were humiliated 31-7 at Kansas State in a non-conference game between two teams that entered the year believing they were conference title contenders.

Even their win over Utah last week has to come with a small asterisk next to it. That’s because the Utes were playing without starting QB Cam Rising who missed the game due to an injury to his throwing hand. Thus, the Utes offense was significantly limited giving the Wildcats a huge edge.

Still, this will be the best team that Tech has played this year. The Wildcats have NFL talent at a number of key positions and they will present plenty of problems for the Red Raiders.
