Stade Rennais: Olivier Cloarec removed from the presidency, Arnaud Pouille tipped to replace him

Arriving at Stade Rennais as deputy general manager in 2021, before becoming president in 2022, Olivier Cloarec will be dismissed from his position by the Pinault family, Bleu Armorique learned this Friday, confirming information from Ouest-France. According to our information, he should be replaced by the former general director of RC Arnaud Pouille, who left the Sang et Or club last June.

The poor results of Stade Rennais for several weeks have therefore pushed the Pinaults to make a strong decision, on the eve of the reception of AS Monaco. It is Olivier Cloarec, with recognized administrative management but sometimes contested leadership in high places, who is paying the price. He was appointed president following the illness of Nicolas Holveck, before being confirmed in this position, until joining the club’s board of directors this summer.

Arnaud Pouille, “the man of the revival of RC Lens”

His replacement should therefore be barring an improbable turnaround in the situation Arnaud Pouille, general director of RC Lens from 2017 to last June. Under his management, the Sang et Or club rose to Ligue 1, before qualifying for the Champions League under the orders of coach Franck Haise, a former educator at Stade Rennais to whom Arnaud Pouille is known to be close. He was dismissed from his position at Lens last summer by Joseph Oughourlian. According to Sylvain Charley, sports journalist at France Bleu , Arnaud Pouille is “the man of the revival of RC Lens, he was Oughourlian’s trusted man. He initially rebalanced the finances and knew how to surround himself with the men who helped him put RC Lens back on the map of French football: Florent Ghisolfi and Franck Haise.

Arnaud Pouille had nonetheless been targeted for his financial management at the end of his mandate, his managers notably believing that the Lens payroll had exploded under his leadership. His induction should be made official very quickly by the club.
