He had his first stint as assistant coach at Turkish Super League club Alanyaspor for the 2020-21 season, where the team got off to an impressive start that saw them near the top of the league.4 On March 21, 2021, he was appointed coach of Fatih Karagümrük, another Turkish Super League club.5 At 31, he was the youngest soccer coach in a professional league in Europe at the time of signing his contract.6 On January 16, 2022, after three consecutive defeats, he mutually terminated his contract with the club.
In May 2024, he was made official as Ajax coach and signed a three-year contract.
In 1974, he became the only player to win three Ballon d’Or awards.
He made his League debut with Ajax against GVAV on 15 November 1964, aged 17 years and 204 days. He scored in that match.
As a player, Cruyff was part of the team with the most goals in an Eredivisie (the 1966-67 Ajax, which scored 122 goals) and then coached what is the second-highest scoring team in a single season in the Eredivisie (in 1985-86, with 120 goals).
Cruyff won 80% of his Eredivisie matches as a player, the highest percentage by a player with more than 75 appearances in the competition.
He scored 20 goals or more in six consecutive leagues with Ajax.
At the age of 20 years and 26 days, he became the top scorer in the 1966-67 Eredivisie with 33 goals, and to date is the fifth youngest player to do so.

In 1911 he was accepted to compete in the first division, and in 1917 he won his first title by winning the Dutch cup against PSV by five goals to zero. In 1918 he won his first league title, which he retained the following year undefeated.
After these successes, the club entered a period in which it would only win regional titles. It was not until the 1930s that the club won another five league titles, before entering another dark period. By the 1940s, it only won one league (1943) and one cup (1947).
With the advent of professional soccer in the Netherlands, Ajax became one of the members of the new league, the Eredivisie, a competition they have played in since 1956. Their debut in the international competition was not auspicious. They lost in the quarterfinals to Hungary’s Vasas 6-2 on aggregate. The professionalization of Dutch soccer led to the almost total hegemony of Ajax Amsterdam, Feyenoord Rotterdam and PSV Eindhoven, who have won 56 of the 61 editions of the professional league, completely displacing traditional clubs such as Sparta Rotterdam, RAP Amsterdam and VV The Hague.
Slavia plays in the Gambrinus Liga, the Czech Republic’s top competition. It is considered, along with Sparta Prague, one of the best clubs in the country and the rivalry between the two is the most important in Czech soccer. Slavia has won 21 leagues, 7 Czech Cups and the Mitropa Cup in 1938. Their most recent success was winning the Gambrinus League in the 2019-20 season. Slavia also won the Gambrinus League in the 1995-96 season, when they reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup. In the 2007-2008 season they qualified for the group stage of the UEFA Champions League for the first time in their history.

During the 2011-2012 season it hosted the matches of FC Viktoria Plzeň in the UEFA Champions League. The 2013 European Super Cup and the 2015 UEFA European Under-21 Championship were played at this stadium.
In the early 1990s, all construction was cancelled and Slavia returned to the former Eden. A temporary grandstand was built on the site of the old one in the east, but it was clear that the Eden was outdated and Slavia needed a new venue. Several more projects were done, but Slavia was unable to raise sufficient funds and there were some legal problems, as the facilities were government property and it took a great deal of effort to transfer them to Slavia. In 2000, the stadium did not meet the requirements to host Czech league matches, so Slavia returned to Strahov.
