Mainly warm and dry weather continues through first week of October

After the coldest morning since early May, temperatures have soared this afternoon under a warm easterly wind. It’s a warm end to a very warm September. Skies remain clear this evening and overnight, although it won’t be quite as chilly as last night. October arrives tomorrow with no significant changes; a warmer atmosphere means we’ll likely just touch 80 degrees in the metro area by late afternoon.

A very weak cold front passes through the region tomorrow evening, bringing evening cloud cover and even the chance for a sprinkle in the I-5 corridor around sunset or beyond. Most of us remain dry, best chance for a shower or two is along the northern Oregon coastline.

The mild and mainly dry weather pattern continues through the first week of October as the jet stream remains up in western Canada. This time of year, the Pacific jet stream can dip south into the Pacific Northwest, bringing clouds and rain. But that won’t be happening for at least a week. Just one quick dip of that jet into our region Friday afternoon COULD bring a shower or two. We are watching that closely.

Enjoy the warm and dry weather!
