The customers of Cora stores will see their habits change. From this Tuesday, October 1, 2024, certain brands will come under the Carrefour flag.

This results from the acquisition, in July 2023, of the Cora group by Carrefour. For a year and a half, nothing had changed for these brands. But from now on, they will become Carrefours.

How will this happen?

The integration of 60 Cora stores in the fold of Carrefour “will be carried out in three waves of brand change »indicates Carrefour in a press release.

A first of 19 stores which will begin on October 1st; a second of 20 stores from mid-October and finally, a final wave of 21 stores from the end of October.

In stores, the transformation should take place gradually with “a transition period of approximately two weeks during which the hypermarkets will remain open”.

A great commercial highlight

Customers will see their store transformed “to gradually adopt the Carrefour group codes »writes the group. The transition will also take place in several stages.

First of all, the sign will be replacedthen lCarrefour product offering will arrive on the shelves little by little. “The signage and work clothing will then finalize this change, before a major commercial highlight which will allow us to celebrate this change of brand,” writes Carrefour.

This commercial highlight will take place on October 25 for the first wave, November 5 for the second wave and November 19 for the last wave.

No job cuts?

Note that according to Julien Munch, Carrefour operations director, “this switch will take place without store closures”. Cora, which had 61 stores, decided to close the one in Bourgoin-Jallieu (Isère), which was not profitable enough.

It remains to be seen what will happen to the employees. Carrefour says it is “very happy to hand over the Carrefour locker room to the 17,000 employees who have joined us”, i.e. all of the employees of the Cora brand.
