DEATH – He had played the role of the gruff but endearing police inspector John Taggart in the films Le flic de Beverly Hills. American actor John Ashton died last week at the age of 76, the father of two children. The announcement was made by the family and the causes of death remain unknown, report the American media as well as the Associated Press agency.

During his film career which spanned over half a century, he was a regular face in several television series and films, including dallas, Midnight Run, Little Big League or Gone Baby Gone. This last film, released in 2007, was directed by Ben Affleck.

But it’s good in the films of the franchise Le flic de Beverly Hills that John Ashton played a vital role in the middle of the trio of Eddie Murphy and Judge Reinhold. The first played the legendary detective Axel Foley from Detroit and the second another detective, alias Billy Rosewood, from Los Angeles.
