On Saturday September 21, Jamy Gourmaud visited the set of the show It’s the weeklybroadcast on France 5, to promote his work 365 new days with Jamya knowledge guide to read as a family. Family and knowledge are also essential elements for the 60-year-old journalist, who has always wanted to reveal the workings of this world to his two sons: Alex, born in 1996, and Oscar, born in 1999. “Alex is an engineer, he is going far away soon and for a long time and he has a message for you“, announced the journalist Aurélie Casse to her guest before launching a video of Alex. The latter, facing the camera, then made a moving declaration to his illustrious father: “Hi Dad, so, as you know, I’m getting ready to leave for Asia and I’m taking advantage of this little surprise to tell you things that I’m not necessarily used to saying, but know that I’ve always been extremely proud of all your achievements and especially of everything that you’ve passed on to me and my brother, your love especially of knowledge and discovery.” And to conclude with a voice somewhat stifled by emotion: “Also know that I will miss you terribly for the next eight months, so I send you lots of hugs and love.” Words that did not fail to bring a few tears to Jamy Gourmaud’s eyes: “It’s wonderful. It’s great… I’m very moved because it’s the first time that one of my sons speaks like that to his dad on television.“

Jamy Gourmaud: his regrets regarding the education of his sons
Jamy Gourmaud has always been keen to pass on his great knowledge to his two children.We often talked about science at home, without considering it as a difficult subject. My children always considered this subject as a game.“, he had thus confided to The Republican Echo in 2015. Nevertheless, the former sidekick of Frédéric Courant regretted not having had the time sometimes to be there for his children because of his professional life. In the columns of World In 2023, he also remembered a sentence that he would have preferred never to say to one of his sons: “I don’t have time to play with you… Just thinking about it makes me revisit those moments. How we can regret it later!” And to add: “If sometimes I regret not having spent enough time with my children, I think I listened to them a lot to understand them, especially during adolescence, this period when the brain is in full swing..”
