After more than a week of consultations with the political forces represented in the National Assembly, Emmanuel Macron has not yet announced the person he wishes to appoint to Matignon. The President of the Republic, returning from a two-day visit to Serbia, could speak at the end of the weekend or early next week.

At the same time, the last weekend of August is the occasion for several political parties to make their summer returns.

In Blois (Loir-et-Cher), Olivier Faure insisted, during his closing speech of the summer universities of the Socialist Party, on the persistent danger of the extreme right to better repeat his call for the unity of his movement and the left. The strategy of the first secretary, who decided to refuse Emmanuel Macron’s invitation to the Elysée after the President of the Republic ruled out appointing Lucie Castets to Matignon, is contested internally.

In Levens, in the Alpes-Maritimes, Eric Ciotti announced the creation of a new political party: the Union of the Right for the Republic. The man who is still the contested president of the Republicans assures that he wants “refound” his political family, believing that only “the union of the rights” must be established permanently “to the government of France”. « L’UDR reborn »he said, referring to the party founded by Charles de Gaulle in 1967, before being replaced by Jacques Chirac’s Rally for the Republic (RPR) nine years later.

In Flixecourt, in the Somme, MP François Ruffin considered that “If Emmanuel Macron does not set limits for himself, the Assembly will have to set limits for him by all means”calling on the Assembly to “use all constitutional means”including the impeachment procedure brought by LFI deputies.

The local structures of the presidential party Renaissance in Paris, Seine-et-Marine and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes also received a visit from Gabriel Attal, the resigning prime minister and president of the parliamentary group in the National Assembly.
