Like – Holstein Kiel is preparing for its historic Bundesliga home debut. “It will be a historic game. First time in the Bundesliga in Kiel. First time in Schleswig-Holstein. Everyone should do their part to make it a success,” said coach Marcel Rapp before the match on Saturday (3.30 p.m./Sky) against VfL Wolfsburg.
After the opening defeat (2:3) at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim last week, Kiel are dreaming of their first points in the top division. “Everyone is looking forward to the game,” said Rapp. “You can feel the anticipation in the city. So if you go to the bakery, people will come and talk to you,” added the 45-year-old.
“We also know what we can do,” said the coach, referring to Wolfsburg, who lost their opening match 2:3 against FC Bayern Munich. “If we bring that into play, then I think we’re capable of winning the game,” added Rapp.
The coach asked his team to be more solid defensively than last week. Rapp can count on his regular players against the Lower Saxony team.
