Bakker loaned to Lille to compensate for an injury in defense

Mitchel Bakker has arrived on loan for a season at Lille from Atalanta, where he will replace Ismaily’s injury, the northern club announced on Friday.

Atalanta Bergamo’s Dutch left-back Mitchel Bakker has joined Lille, who have qualified for the Champions League, on loan for a season, where he will replace Ismaily, the northern club announced on Friday. Lacking playing time with Atalanta, where he arrived last summer, Bakker will have to replace the Brazilian Ismaily, who had surgery this week on the meniscus in his right knee.

Losc had to recruit a player for this position, for which they only had, apart from Ismaily, the Swedish international Gabriel Gudmundsson. However, the northern club is preparing, with its qualification for the Champions League, to face a particularly busy schedule. Trained at Ajax Amsterdam, Mitchel Bakker, 24, already knows Ligue 1 having played for Paris SG from 2019 to 2021. He then joined Bayer Leverkusen, where he was a regular starter for two years before signing for Bergamo.

In Italy, he failed to make a name for himself, playing only 14 Serie A games last season, including three starts.
