Garmin Fenix 8 reportedly supports Garmin Share and voice commands with built-in speaker and microphone

FitnessTrackerTest (FTT) has shared more details about the Fenix 8, Garmin’s upcoming and much-rumored smartwatch. As of now, the exact release date of the Fenix 8 remains unknown. However, FTT recently shared official battery life estimates for multiple sizes, the Fenix 8 is a smartwatch that comes in multiple sizes, including the rumored AMOLED and MIP display variants.

Additionally, FTT highlighted some of the connectivity options that could come to all Fenix 8 models. Garmin reportedly plans to offer its Garmin Share feature on launch day. Coming to Fenix 7 models like the Fenix 7 Pro Sapphire Solar (currently $899.99 on Amazon) earlier this year, Garmin describes Garmin Share in the following terms:

Garmin Share lets you share data directly with other compatible Edge cycling computers. When you’re within 10 feet (3 meters) of another compatible Edge, you can share saved locations, courses, and workouts directly. This lets you send information to another Edge without needing to access your Garmin Connect account.

Additionally, FTT claims that Garmin has also integrated a microphone and speaker into the Fenix 8 range. For one, this should make it possible to take and make phone calls directly on a Fenix 8 when it is within Bluetooth proximity of a paired smartphone. For another, FTT adds that the smartwatches will be able to process voice commands, again only when connected to a paired smartphone. Presumably, this latter feature will interact with the smartphone’s default voice assistant, rather than creating a Garmin-specific solution.
