Two dead and six injured in emergency care in a terrible road accident in Yvelines

Terrible traffic accident, this Sunday evening, in Épône (Yvelines). Around 11 p.m., along the Septeuil road (D130), the driver of an Opel Insignia who was transporting seven other people, members of two families of Indian origin, hit a fence wall after losing control of his vehicle.

The man was killed instantly, as was a rear passenger. The six other occupants, including three children aged 10 months, 8 years and 13 years, were seriously injured and were rushed to hospitals in the area.

The tragedy occurred in a 30 km/h zone

The accident occurred in a residential area of ​​this town near Mantes-la-Jolie. According to initial investigations, it was linked to excessive speed, combined with dangerous traffic conditions on a wet road with no street lighting.

The speed limit is 30 km/h. According to our information, a strong smell of alcohol was detected on the driver’s body during the emergency services’ intervention. This element must be confirmed by the blood tests currently being carried out.

The surviving children are from a small neighbouring town. The mayor of this village was alerted to activate their care. The accident mobilised eight emergency vans and around thirty firefighters.
