Jules Bianchi – Leclerc Marathon: “Honoring the memory of Jules”

Jules Bianchi, who tragically died at the age of 25 following a terrible accident at the wheel of his Marussia during the 2014 Japanese Grand Prix, is still fresh in everyone’s memory.

It is in his honor that the Jules Bianchi marathon is being held this weekend on the Paul-Ricard circuit, in Castellet (Var). Created more than 10 years ago by Jules’ father, Philippe Bianchi, it is a karting race lasting 42 hours, 19 minutes and 50 seconds that ends this Sunday at 2:00 p.m.

Very close to Jules Bianchi, Charles Leclerc was obviously present to give the start of this event.

« Philippe (Bianchi. Ed.) called me two years ago to relaunch this race that we did with Jules when I was very young, declared the Monegasque on site to the microphone of the local channel BFM Toulon Var. I loved the idea right away. Plus, it’s for a good cause, to honor the memory of Jules Bianchi, but also to help people who really need it. So it was clear to me that I should be there. »

The proceeds from the Jules Bianchi marathon will be donated to the Archet hospital in Nice.

32 crews and 400 drivers, divided into two categories of 240 and 270 kilos, answered the call to participate in this event. Among them, and in addition to the recent winner of the Italian Grand Prix in Monza with Scuderia Ferrari, were also present Isack Hadjar, the singer Benjamin Biolay and the actor Tomer Sisley. All with a thought for Jules Bianchi.
