Aquarium celebrates 40th anniversary with free tickets for county residents

THIS IS WHY THEY LAUNCHED A PROGRAM IN MAY, ALLOWING FAMILIES WHO RECEIVE FREE FOOD ASSITANCE, ADMISSION TO VISIT THE AQUARIUM AT NO COST. (CLIP 9116 / 00;01;40;21- 00;01;51;13) THE AQUARIUM HAS WELCOMED ABOUT 120- THOUSAND PEOPLE THROUGH THE PROGRAM, AN AVERAGE OF ABOUT 10- THOUSAND PEOPLE A WEEK. (CLIP 9116 / 00;02;19;13- 00;02;34;29) IN ADDITION TO THE ‘MUSEUMS FOR ALL’ ACCESS PROGRAM.. THEY ALSO HAVE A GROUP VISIT INITIATIVE CALLED ‘FREE TO LEARN,’ FOR NON- PROFITS TO BRING PEOPLE THEY SERVE. (CLIP 9116 / 00;05;53;23- 00;06;02;12) THE PROGRAM IS FUNDED INTERNALLY BY THE AQUARIUM, USING ADMISSION FEES, MEMBERSHIPS, AND DONATIONS FOR SUPPORT.

The Monterey Bay Aquarium wants to help thank the residents of Monterey County with free admission tickets for October. October 20 is the aquarium’s 40th anniversary, and to celebrate, they will give out a limited number of admission tickets for each day of the month.Monterey County residents can go online starting on Tuesday to reserve tickets for admission from Oct. 1-15. Then, starting on Oct. 8, free admission tickets will be available for Oct. 16-31. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis. People can reserve up to six tickets per transaction.Every ticket holder must have a ticket.Ticket holders will have entrance to the aquarium from noon to 4 p.m. on the day of their reservation. Tickets cannot be canceled or exchanged for another date. All guests above 18 will have to have a photo ID for entrance. If a photo ID does not have a Monterey County address, you can bring documentation with a name matching your ID to gain entry into the aquarium.
