As talented as they are basic, Oasis are back, “and I’ll be in the front row”

The oldest British daily newspaper (1785) and the best known abroad has been owned since 1981 by News UK, owned by billionaire Rupert Murdoch. With a conservative tendency, it has long been the newspaper of reference and the voice of the establishment. In 2016, The Times speaks out against the UK leaving the European Union and continues to campaign for the preservation of good relations with the continent.

In addition to the newspaper’s approximately 360,000 paper readers, there are more than 400,000 digital subscribers. At the start of the Russian aggression in Ukraine on February 24, 2022, the website The Times (shared with its Sunday edition The Sunday Times) records 1,000 new subscriptions per day, reflecting its excellent field work in international news. Seven reporters cover the conflict permanently, on the ground.

In 2020, News UK launched Times Radio, a general-interest radio station designed to compete with BBC Radio 4, the UK’s equivalent of France Inter. Hosted in part by journalists from the editorial staff of The Timeshis shows attract half a million listeners per week.
