the road collapses on the RN 134 at Urdos, access to the Somport tunnel impossible

The Aspe Valley, including the towns of Urdos, Etsaut, and Cette-Eygun, suffered heavy rains that swept through the Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port-Oloron-Pau axis. “300 people are currently without electricity, mainly in the towns of Urdos, Borce, and Etsaut. Enedis technicians are currently working,” the prefecture said in a statement this Saturday morning.

No injuries

“There are no injuries to report at this time, but there is significant material damage. A road collapse occurred on the RN134 in the commune of Urdos, between the town centre and the Somport tunnel, making traffic impossible (location: PK 109 800),” the administration continued.

The prefect activated the departmental operational center and the RN134 traffic management plan to manage the consequences of the collapse of the roadway on traffic.

“The circulation of light vehicles and heavy goods vehicles is prohibited on the RN134 and RN 1134 between Gurmençon and the Spanish border. A local service is nevertheless maintained to access the municipalities of Cette-Eygun, Etsaut and Urdos, up to the point where the RN134 is cut off (PR110 + 900).”
