This is THE role that made the sculptural Arnold Schwarzeneggerworried about his son, a movie star. In 1984, the man who would become governor of California arrived in theaters in the guise of Terminatorthis cyborg created by the all-powerful computer Skynet to fight against human resistance. The film by James Cameronwhich recently tackled superhero films, will meet with great success upon its release, becoming a real phenomenon both for science fiction aficionados and more broadly for cinema. The director of Titanic will come back with Terminator 2: Judgment Day in 1991. After this second part, four more or less linked to the first will follow: Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003), Terminator Renaissance (2009), Terminator Genisys (2015), et Terminator Dark Fate (2019). So which is the greatest vintage? Who is dead last? Verdict of Tele-Leisurefrom worst to best!

Terminator Dark Fate (2019)

Some will say that he has definitively buried the saga. Nowadays, a Terminator from the future lands in Mexico to find a young woman. The latter can then count on a genetically modified warrior, Arnold “Terminator” Schwarzenegger… and Sarah Connor. A final part of a saga that is out of breath yet in the form of a return to the sources (co-written by James Cameron) which overshadows the films released after Terminator 2.

Terminator Genisys (2015)

2029. On the verge of winning the war against Skynet, John Connor sends his lieutenant Kyle Reese into the past to save his mother and preserve the future of humanity. But not everything goes as planned. While it remains entertaining, this opus directed by Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones) and carried by Emilia Clarke no longer has the charm of the beginnings of the saga.

Terminator Renaissance (2009)

The only part without Arnold Schwarzenegger (or almost). It’s 2018. Skynet’s terrible machines have triumphed, eradicating a very large part of humanity. Led by a John Connor this time played by the very talented Christian Baleunrecognizable in Thor Love and Thunderthe resistance continues the fight. The franchise wanted to start anew and the contract is partially fulfilled. On the program: successful special effects, effective action scenes…and a few winks to the original Terminator.

Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003)

Ten years after saving humanity, John Connor leads a solitary life in order to escape the radar. Until the day when an indestructible cyborg from the future, the TX, arrives from the future to eliminate him. He will be able to count on the help of an Arnold Schwarzenegger as sharp as ever in the guise of the Terminator. An apocalyptic and disenchanted story carried by impressive sequences and special effects.

Terminator (1984)

A UFO when it was released. The spectators then discovered in amazement a mute and indestructible cyborg who came from the future to eliminate a waitress, Sarah Connor. An extremely simple but particularly effective pitch. The great James Cameron signed a major work of science fiction with all the directorial talent that we know him for. And above all, he offered Mister Universe Arnold Schwarzenegger an iconic role that would launch his career.

Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991)

The best of the saga! The director ofAvatarsoon to return, was once again behind the camera, seven years after launching it. In this masterpiece, Skynet’s robots dominate humanity in 2029. They send one of their own into the past to kill the leader of the resistance… then a teenager. James Cameron’s screenplay is particularly intelligent and ambitious. And what about the special effects, revolutionary for the time and still as impressive! To see and see again…
