I imagine that like me, you must be starting to get tired of seeing the endless soap opera of “Who’s at Matignon?” come back every day. It’s as if we were in the movie “Groundhog Day” where the actor Bill Murray is condemned to relive the same events every day as the day before. So we’re going to talk about something else today and, as the news is not marked by a particularly important fact, I will suggest that we skim over a few events that caught my attention in the news. But before leaving French politics, and while it is said that the name of the future Prime Minister could be announced this evening, I suggest a few bits of information that I think are worth noting.

Thierry Beaudet anti-Semitic?

You won’t see the first one in any French newspaper. I had to go digging on an Israeli site to find the real reason why Emmanuel Macron ultimately did not accept Thierry Beaudet’s candidacy for the post of Prime Minister.

The anti-Semitism collective SwordOfSalomon revealed in several tweets on Monday evening that the president of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council had ” for political advisor Nassim Larfa, supporter of Rima Hassan and LFI. He is also said to be a close friend of the Belgian Jean-Pierre Labille, secretary general of Solidaris, who had published an image on October 28 mixing a Star of David with a swastika, before apologizing« .

Which provoked several incendiary tweets on X, including for example that of Stéphane Le Rudulier, senator of Bouches-du-Rhône: “ Thierry Beaudet at Matignon is the Islamo-leftism of his closest advisors in power. How can a prime minister whose political entourage officially supports the anti-Semite Rima Hassan be considered for a single second? It’s disgusting!

No wonder the hypothesis of his candidacy survived less than 24 hours…

Lucie Castets demands €9,000 salary per month from the NFP

Concerning Lucie Castets, whose name has also long been pushed by the NFP to occupy the post of Prime Minister, the weekly Marianne informs us that her campaign team, from the end of July, had requested a monthly envelope of 51,000 euros from the NFP parties.

This budget was to cover the salaries of three key collaborators, the rental of offices in the center of Paris, as well as travel expenses for the political activities of the former civil servant at the Paris city hall. Still according to Marianne, this request did not include the remuneration of Lucie Castets herself, who would have required an additional €9,000 from September.

Olivier Faure spent his childhood in Reunion Island

Here, it’s my chauvinistic side that comes out. I admit to being particularly sensitive to everything that concerns my island. So I’m sharing with you this – very small – piece of information found by a faithful reader on Wikipedia. Olivier Faure, the head of the PS, is said to have spent his childhood in Reunion.

I don’t know about you, but personally this is the first time I’ve read this information.

Edouard Philippe presidential candidate

If you are interested in politics, you will have had a hard time missing the news of the night, namely the announcement of Edouard Philippe’s candidacy for the 2027 presidential election.

It’s not really a surprise, as he already implied it in each of his speeches. But this is the first time he’s said it officially.

It is, however, the choice of date that raises questions. Why announce it now, when Emmanuel Macron is struggling to find a tenant for Matignon? The most obvious answer is that the mayor of Le Havre wanted to put additional obstacles in the way of the President of the Republic. Because it is no secret that relations between the two men are execrable.

On his way to 2027, Edouard Philippe is likely to find several other candidates from the right: Gabriel Attal, currently well ahead in popularity polls, but also Gérald Darmanin, Laurent Wauquiez and Xavier Bertrand. Not to mention Eric Ciotti. But I don’t know whether he should still be classified as right-wing or far-right.

Russians continue massacre of Ukrainian civilians

The war in Ukraine continues, although it has been pushed out of the news by the horrors perpetrated by Israel in Gaza.

Russian bombings of civilian populations continue, however. On the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, they left seven dead and 25 injured in Lviv, a large city in western Ukraine.

Five of the injured were children and several residential buildings were hit.

Lviv is located more than 1,000 kilometers from the front.

The city of Kryvyi Rih was also shelled, leaving five people injured.

Cyclist killed by unlicensed Lamborghini driver

A news item now, symptomatic of the society we live in today. A 51-year-old cyclist was killed Sunday in Avignon by the driver of a Lamborghini who had rented it for a wedding. The two occupants of the coupe fled, before finally going later to the police station where the driver tested negative for alcohol and drugs.

However, TF1 revealed last night that the 25-year-old man no longer had a license, as it had been suspended.

Woman raped by over 50 men with husband’s consent

Since we are on the subject of news, let’s stay there for a moment. How can we not mention the horrible trial currently taking place in Avignon, where 51 men are in the dock. They are accused of having abused a woman in her sixties who was drugged by her husband, who was placing ads on specialized sites to find candidates.

Today, the majority of the accused claim that they did not know that the woman was drugged and that they thought they were only fulfilling the fantasies of a couple.

However, the police seized numerous conversations which prove that the defendants were perfectly aware that the woman was drugged.

All the rapes, because that is what they are, were also filmed.

Gisèle Pélicot, that’s the name of the victim and we can mention it because she courageously refuses anonymity, had not realized anything and discovered the horror of the facts when the police arrived at her home to show her the videos discovered on her husband’s computer, whose computer equipment had been seized following a complaint about films shot without their knowledge under the dresses of customers of a large store.

If I’m telling you this, it’s because I remember the story a Zinfos reader told me about a rape she claimed to have suffered at the hands of one of the owners of a well-known Saint-Gilles restaurant.

She remembers having dinner at his place and then, the black hole… Until she woke up naked in his bed.

She did file a complaint, but the police explained to her that evidence of the administration of chemical drugs faded after a few hours and was very difficult to prove. The case was closed without further action at the request of the prosecution.

Today, on the occasion of the Gisèle Pélicot affair, I discovered through the multitude of articles devoted to the subject that this is false and that traces of drugs remain in the hair for several months.

I-don’t-care attitude of the prosecutor who didn’t want to waste his time? Case not taken seriously? Or simply an attempt to protect a friend in whose restaurant we regularly dine? We will never know.

The fact remains that this reader revealed to us that in St-Gilles, women often say they have already been victims of this kind of mishap, particularly in nightclubs after, for example, they have left their drink unattended to go dancing.

So ladies, be careful. It doesn’t only happen to other people…
