Météo-France has placed 12 departments on orange alert for storms and/or rain-flooding from 6 p.m. until Thursday morning.
The rains “will sometimes be intense, accompanied by strong gusts of wind and hail.”
Caution in the South-East and the Massif Central. Météo France announced the placement of 12 departments on orange alert this Wednesday evening, and this until Thursday morning. The departments on thunderstorm alert are: Alpes-Maritimes (06), Bouches-du-Rhône (13), Gard (30), Var (83), Vaucluse (84). Those on orange rain-flood alert are: Allier (03), Alpes-Maritimes (06), Bouches-du-Rhône (13), Gard (30), Loire (42), Haute-Loire (43), Nièvre (58), Puy-de-Dôme (63), Saône-et-Loire (71), Var (83), Vaucluse (84), Yonne (89).
Many departments on yellow alert for storms or rain-flooding
“From Hautes-Loire to Yonne, an unstable rain axis will set in during the evening. The rains will persist until Thursday morning. Over the episode, the accumulations will be 50 to 70mm locally 100mm along this axis”explains in its 4 p.m. bulletin Météo France about the 12 departments affected by the orange rain-flood alert. For the departments of the south-east, also on storm alert, the rains “will sometimes be intense, accompanied by strong gusts of wind and hail. Accumulations of around 60 to 80 mm, fairly widespread, with peaks of over 100-150 mm are expected for this episode”.and

According to our forecast for this week, showers and thunderstorms dominate or will dominate in most regions, at one time or another. On Wednesday, rain and thunderstorms will continue to progress to affect the center-east, the Rhone Valley but also part of Occitanie as well as all the Mediterranean departments.
