Career change for Romeo Beckham. The second son of David, who played for the Brentford reserve team, has decided to hang up his boots despite a renewal offer from the London club to… concentrate on modeling.

At just 22, Romeo Beckham has decided to retire from the sport and become… a model. The second son of former England captain David Beckham and “Spice Girl” Victoria has turned down a new contract offered by Brentford to extend his contract with the B team and has chosen to focus on his first passion, fashion.

“Romeo has decided to hang up his football boots and focus on his career in fashion. He loved his time at Brentford but needs to focus on fashion, which is his passion. He has his sights set on working with big brands,” a source told British daily The Sun. The man who has been described by his father as the “fashionista” of the family has just signed with a top agent at the famous Parisian fashion agency Safe Management.

Burberry’s muse at 10 years old

Beckham, who has played for Arsenal’s youth team and Inter Miami, a club owned by David, joined Brentford last year. The London club’s director had praised his character. “If he had come in and said ‘I’m a Beckham’, it would have been a disaster for us. But he’s not like that at all. Like his father, he’s humble with a good work ethic and he wants to put in extra hours in training,” Phil Giles told the High Performance podcast.

Alongside his football career, the young man has already taken more than convincing first steps in modelling. He landed a £1.2 million contract to become the face of Puma in 2021, appeared on the cover of L’Uomo Vogue the same year and has also modelled for Yves Saint Laurent. He was immersed in the fashion world from a very young age: he took part in a Burberry campaign at just ten years old and was named the 26th best-dressed man in Britain in 2011, when he was… nine years old.
